Karelia Aviation Museum
Ideal place to visit for those interested in aviation
Karelia Aviation Museum is located at Lappeenranta Airport. In the year 2000, the museum was opened for the public and it is upheld by the South Karelia Aviation museum association. For those who are interested in aviation, the museum is an ideal place to visit. In addition to museum activity, the association has erected several aviation monuments around South Karelia and one monument can even be found in Russia. The permanent exhibition features the following fighter planes of the Finnish Air Force: MIG-21 BIS, SAAB 35S DRAKEN, NIEUPORT 17, FOLLAND GNAT and FOUGA CM 170 Magister, the training plane SAAB91D SAFIR, the helicopter Mi-8T, the sailplane Harakka (Magpie), and engines and salvaged wrecks.
