The Life's Work of an ITE Artist - A Mystical Park in Parikkala
Discover the renowned life's work of Finland's most famous ITE (self-taught) artist in Parikkala, located along Route 6. This internationally recognised site, known as one of the world's most frightening attractions, is the creation of Veijo Rönkkönen (1944-2010). Over 50 years of Rönkkönen’s artistic dedication is showcased in the Parikkala Sculpture Park, featuring 560 multi-faceted statues lining the road nr. 6 in Parikkala. The park's largest section includes 255 statues in various yoga poses.
Situated in Koitsanlahti, Parikkala, the sculpture park is just off Highway 6, approximately 50 km north of Imatra and 8 km from the centre of Parikkala.
Visitors can park in the nearby rest area, which offers direct access to the park. Helsinki-Joensuu trains also stop in Parikkala, though there is no local transport to Koitsanlahti.
The park is open around the clock, allowing visitors to explore at any time. Please note, there is no lighting in the park. By paying the entrance fee on-site, you support the maintenance of the park, which receives no public funding. The upkeep of the park and its statues relies entirely on entrance fees and product sales.
