Sandcastle in the Harbour of Lappeenranta
Sandcastle open 1 June – 25 August 2024
Lappeenranta's sandcastle will decorate Lappeenranta's harbour for the summer of 2024, as the theme of the sand sculptures this summer is Lappeenranta - Heart of Lake Saimaa. The sandcastle area will be open from 1.6.-25.8.2024 daily from 10-21.
This summer, the sandcastle will once again feature a bouncy castle world with several different bouncy castles, a giant trampoline, a carousel and a train ride.
There will be an equipment rental shop with bikes, kayaks, canoes, SUP boats and basic camping equipment to help tourists explore and spend the night in nature, a weekly programme of activities and a tourist information centre with brochures, maps and up-to-date information on events and activities in the Lappeenranta region.
Welcome to enjoy yourself and have a fun summer day!
By the way, did you know how to make sand sculptures?
First, the sand is packed into plywood moulds using water and a compactor. After packing, the work is sculpted from top to bottom. The moulds are removed one by one as the work progresses. The sand is suitable for carving and contains nothing but water. The surface of the finished sculpture is reinforced with a domestic general-purpose/wood glue. This makes the surface of the sculptures hard and normal rainfall will not damage the sculptures.
