Today, we celebrate Finnish Sauna Day 🌿🥳Finlaland is well-known for its sauna culture, boasting the most saunas per capita in the world. Just imagine: there are 3.3 million saunas for a population of 5.3 million people! Saunas have been an integral part of Finnish life for centuries and hold a special place in our culture and traditions 🤗Around Lake Saimaa, we have a wealth of saunas – cozy cottage saunas, traditional wood-heated saunas, public saunas, floating sauna @saimaanpalju in Lappeenranta. In Imatra @saunalauttaimatra and the sauna boat @saunalaiva_emma (116 years old, formerly used as a tugboat), sauna made in an old train coach at the @wake_in_vuoksi and even tent saunas 🌿 We also have smoke saunas that use traditional smoke channels to heat the sauna. They are considered the oldest and most authentic type of sauna. For example, Hugo`s Smoke Sauna in Rautjärvi, @hugonhuvilat_ja_savusaunat was voted last year as the best smoke sauna in Finland.
